Lake Street Kitchen + Bar is located in the heart of downtown Oak Park, and features upscale eclectic dining and a full bar complete with artisan cocktails, global wines, and a large variety of local and craft brews in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lake Street Kitchen + Bar serves an eclectic menu that is farm-to-table, seasonal, fresh, and homemade every day of the week offering lunch, dinner, and late night dining. The menu offerings come from a melting pot of influences---like the diversity of the restaurant's Oak Park community---and range from American comfort food to mediterranean, Cajun to to Italian, Basque to Spanish. The menu changes with the seasons to offer food at its peak of flavor.
Chef Jason Kurosaki leads the kitchen. During his impressive culinary career, Chef Jason has worked for three James Beard award-winning chefs and one nominee for best restaurateur. His latest position was with Paul Kahan’s avec. Prior to joining avec, Chef Jason’s previous positions in Chicago were with such great restaurants as Custom House, Sola, and Dunlay’s on Clark. Jason began his culinary career in Hawaii at Padovani’s Restaurant and Wine Bar and Sam Choy’s Diamond Head. With a passion for food, Jason has worked in kitchens with many different styles and levels of cuisine, from simple diner fare to fine dining. From his perspective, “flavor and comfort sells. Food can be exciting and creative as well, but if it doesn't inspire the taste buds, who wants it?” Bringing nearly ten years of culinary experience to the table, Chef Jason provides guests with an amazing dining experience through dishes made with fresh, local ingredients and influences from flavors around the world. Chef Jason loves working in such a great food community and working with the fabulous local produce to execute his vision of contemporary American cuisine.
The focal point of the space is the kitchen, which is open to the dining area and bar for all to view, and even includes seating in front of the chefs' work areas. The centerpiece of the open kitchen is a Wood Stone oven where guests can watch their dishes being prepared before their eyes. An all-welcoming layout allows guests to choose from a variety of seating options including stools at the bar, extra long group and community tables, or traditional two to four person tables. The restaurant’s design is based on natural elements featuring solid walnut bar and tables, slate floors and walls, and metal and wood plank touches.
The seasonal food menu is accompanied by a unique line up of beer, wine and cocktails. The beer offerings include 12 local and craft beers on tap and many more in bottles and even some cool retro cans. The wine list offers more than 40 choices by the glass and bottle and includes wines from several organic and biodynamic vineyards. Like the food offerings from the chef's kitchen, the house crafted cocktails are seasonal and fresh.
